Oreck Air Purifiers- a review

Oreck Air Purifiers have been getting quite a few knocks lately.
Everywhere from blogs and independent reviews to Consumer reports. But I ask you,how can you
hate the company that created the Oreck XL vacuum and the Oreck Super8 air purifier?

Founder David Oreck is a living symbol
of the American dream. A world war II fighter pilot who
became a door to door vacuum salesman and made it big doing something most of us would think beneath us.
This is what dreams are made of. This is what Hollywood
movies are made of. You have got to love it.

But lets get down to point. I am not looking for an air purifier because the
guy who manufactures them is a symbol of American romanticism, I am not looking for a air purifier because the EPA says that indoor air pollution has become one of our number one health risks. I am just looking
for an air purifier that will help keep my allergies from flaring up when I am stuck in the house or in my office. I am looking for something to get the smell
of fried fish out of my kitchen. And just as important I am looking for something that I don’t have to take
apart and clean or replace a filter every 2 or 3 months.

And thats where the problem lies. The Oreck air purifiers does require me to clean
the plates they have inside that collect the dust . The Oreck air purifier does require a bi-monthly
change of filters and all the while the people over at Oreck air purifiers make it sound like they are doing me a favor by having me do this “minimal maintenance”.

Not to say the Oreck air purifier does not have its good points. It is small
and it is a pretty quiet unit. And although some people are complaining about the
air freshener that the Oreck air purifier comes with, I like it. The point being that whatever odor the Oreck air purifier does not remove, it will mask.

But for the hefty price of $469.00 for the Oreck tabletop air purifier and $699.00 for the Oreck tower air purifier(not to mention the replaceable filters, $39.00 each every 2 to 3 months).
And the fact that Oreck air purifiers only cover 900 square feet a piece. I think I will have to pass. The Oreck air purifier may be what the American dream is made of, but for the cost and effectiveness I do not suggest it.

If you are in the market for an American made air purifier that does not require
any maintenance or parts for 3 years. I suggest you take a look at the Air Oasis 3000. One unit covers up to 3000 square feet and it is highly effective against bacteria, molds, and odors.
